OUR MISSION & VISION
Neo Griot exists to honor Black stories with depth, beauty, and purpose. We create films, installations, and cultural works that preserve legacy, uplift communities, and spark imagination through bold visual storytelling rooted in truth and creativity.
Neo Griot envisions a world where Black narratives shape culture, inspire generations, and stand as powerful archives of memory. We aim to expand creative possibilities, build lasting community impact, and craft meaningful art that resonates across time.
Jeremy Rashad Brown
Founder and Creative Director, NEO GRIOT
Jeremy Rashad Brown is a multidisciplinary creative director, filmmaker, photographer, educator, and cultural storyteller based in Austin, Texas. As the founder of NEO GRIOT, he leads a dynamic multimedia production house dedicated to centering community, imagination, and human connection through film, photography, performance, curriculum, youth engagement, and innovative immersive experiences.
Jeremy’s work is rooted in a deep commitment to storytelling as a tool for healing, visibility, and transformation. Drawing from more than a decade of creative practice across theatre, film, youth development, and the nonprofit arts sector, he has built a body of work known for its emotional clarity, bold visual language, and ability to bring people together across generations and cultures. His artistic approach blends Black Southern traditions of oral storytelling with contemporary cinematic techniques, creating work that feels both timeless and defiantly modern.
As the creator of Reggie Rap’s Room, Jeremy developed an original edutainment series and curriculum dedicated to youth emotional wellness, social connection, and artistic expression. The project has quickly gained traction across Austin through live activations, school partnerships, community events, installations, and a growing nationwide audience. RRR sits at the center of NEO GRIOT’s mission and serves as the foundation for a larger ecosystem of programs, performances, and multimedia storytelling.
Jeremy’s photography has been featured in exhibitions across Austin, including the community-acclaimed still photo series, rest your glory, celebrated for its intimacy, emotional honesty, and cinematic portraiture. His fine art work has been shown at The Little Gay Shop, the Austin Studio Tour, and multiple community-centered theatres. Whether through film, still images, or immersive installation, Jeremy’s visual art focuses on interior worlds, spiritual presence, and the quiet power of human resilience.
In addition to his artistic practice, Jeremy is the inaugural Creative Director of Beerburg Events, where he revitalizes brand identity, marketing, and content direction for one of Central Texas’s most beloved brewing and event spaces. He has directed, produced, and collaborated with organizations including Georgetown Palace Theatre, Paramount Education, the Downtown Austin Alliance, Groundfloor Theatre, Blackshear Elementary, Whatsinthemirror?, The VORTEX, and Huston-Tillotson University. His leadership has helped secure partnerships, grants, national festival traction, and a growing network of mission-aligned collaborators.
Jeremy’s directing work in theatre and film continues to evolve alongside his commitment to community-rooted storytelling. He is currently developing multiple film projects through NEO GRIOT, including the Reggie Rap’s Room web series and the LGBTQ+ historical documentary, Pride and Perseverance. His work reflects an ongoing dedication to mental health awareness, arts education, Black cultural lineage, queer history, and the power of creative gathering.
Above all, Jeremy is driven by the belief that stories can build worlds. NEO GRIOT exists as both a production studio and a cultural home for the stories that shape who we are. Through every project, Jeremy aims to preserve history, nurture imagination, and open space for people to feel seen, valued, and connected.
Legacy. Ownership. Story
1. We believe stories carry power—power to heal, to challenge, to document, and to ignite. Neo Griot exists to protect that power and ensure it is shaped with care, artistry, and truth.
2. Every project is an act of authorship. From youth-centered work to fine art installations, we approach each creation with deep respect for the communities and histories that inform it.
3. Our philosophy is simple: storytelling is heritage. We craft experiences that leave emotional footprints, turning creative moments into lasting cultural memory.
